A Patch for GIMP 3+ for Photoshop Users

🎨 PhotoGIMP

PhotoGIMP is a free, community-driven patch that transforms GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) into a layout that feels familiar to Adobe Photoshop users. If you're switching from Photoshop to GIMP and want to feel at home right away, PhotoGIMP is for you.

New to GIMP? GIMP is a free and open-source image editor available for Linux, macOS, and Windows. It can do most things Photoshop can — photo retouching, image composition, graphic design, and more — all for free. PhotoGIMP just makes it look and feel more like Photoshop.

📋 Requirements

Before installing PhotoGIMP, make sure you have:

Requirement	Details
GIMP 3.0 or newer	Download from: gimp.org or Flathub (Linux)
Run GIMP at least once	GIMP needs to generate its config files before PhotoGIMP can overwrite them. Install GIMP → open it → close it → then install PhotoGIMP.

⚙ How to Install

Warning

Back up your current GIMP settings before installing! PhotoGIMP overwrites GIMP's configuration files. If you have custom settings you want to keep, save a backup copy first. See the backup instructions in each section below.

🐧 Flatpak (Linux)

Backup (optional)

If you want to keep your current GIMP settings, back them up first:

cp -r ~/.config/GIMP/3.0 ~/GIMP-3.0-backup

Install

Make sure you already have GIMP installed from Flathub.
Open GIMP once, then close it — this creates the config folders that PhotoGIMP needs.
Download the latest release: 👉 Download PhotoGIMP for Linux (.zip)
Extract the .zip file into your home folder (~).
- This will place files into ~/.config and ~/.local, which are hidden folders.
- To see hidden folders in your file manager, press Ctrl + H.
- When prompted about existing files, choose "Replace" or "Overwrite".
Open GIMP — you should see the new PhotoGIMP layout! 🎉

💡 Using a non-Flatpak GIMP?

If you installed GIMP from your distro's package manager (apt, dnf, pacman, etc.) instead of Flatpak, the config folder is in the same location (~/.config/GIMP/3.0), so the steps above still work. Just make sure you have GIMP version 3.0 or newer.

Type %APPDATA%\GIMP and press Enter.
Copy the entire 3.0 folder to a safe location (e.g., your Desktop).

💡 Optional: Change the GIMP shortcut icon

You can also download photogimp.ico and update the icon on the GIMP shortcut located at:

%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\GIMP 3.0.0

Right-click the shortcut → Properties → Change Icon → browse to the downloaded .ico file.

If you use Chocolatey, you can install PhotoGIMP with a single command:

Type ~/Library/Application Support/GIMP and press Enter.
If you see a 2.10 folder from a previous installation, delete it to avoid conflicts.
Paste the 3.0 folder inside the GIMP folder.
When prompted about existing files, select "Replace" or "Merge".
Open GIMP — you should see the new PhotoGIMP layout! 🎉

📦 What's Inside the Patch

PhotoGIMP replaces or adds the following files in GIMP's configuration directory:

🗑 How to Uninstall

To remove PhotoGIMP and restore GIMP to its default state, simply delete GIMP's config folder and reopen GIMP — it will regenerate fresh default settings.

Linux

rm -rf ~/.config/GIMP/3.0

Then open GIMP again — it will create a brand new default configuration.

If you made a backup earlier, restore it instead:

cp -r ~/GIMP-3.0-backup ~/.config/GIMP/3.0

Windows

Press Windows + R, type %APPDATA%\GIMP and press Enter.
Delete the 3.0 folder.
Open GIMP — it will recreate the default settings.

Or restore your backup by pasting the backed-up 3.0 folder back.

macOS

Open Finder, press Cmd + Shift + G.
Go to ~/Library/Application Support/GIMP.
Delete the 3.0 folder.
Open GIMP — it will recreate the default settings.

Or restore your backup by pasting the backed-up folder back.

❓ Troubleshooting / FAQ

Caution

PhotoGIMP does not have an official website. The only official source for the project is its GitHub repository: https://github.com/Diolinux/PhotoGIMP/

PhotoGIMP didn't change anything — GIMP looks the same

Make sure you extracted the files to the correct location. The most common mistake is extracting to the wrong folder.
Linux: The .config and .local folders must be in your home directory (~). They are hidden — press Ctrl + H in your file manager to see them.
Windows: The 3.0 folder must be inside %APPDATA%\GIMP, not next to it.
macOS: The 3.0 folder must be inside ~/Library/Application Support/GIMP.
Did you close GIMP before pasting the files? GIMP may overwrite incoming settings on exit.

I get an error when opening GIMP after installing PhotoGIMP

This usually means the GIMP version doesn't match. PhotoGIMP is built for GIMP 3.0+. If you're running GIMP 2.x, it won't be compatible.
Try deleting the config folder and reinstalling — see the How to Uninstall section.

Can I use PhotoGIMP with GIMP 2.10?

No. This version of PhotoGIMP is designed exclusively for GIMP 3.0 and newer. The configuration format changed significantly between GIMP 2.x and 3.x.

Will PhotoGIMP delete my custom brushes, fonts, or plug-ins?

No. PhotoGIMP only replaces configuration files (shortcuts, layout, preferences). Your personal brushes, fonts, gradients, and plug-ins remain untouched.

Can I customize the shortcuts after installing PhotoGIMP?

Absolutely! PhotoGIMP just sets a starting point. You can change any shortcut in GIMP via Edit → Keyboard Shortcuts.

How do I update PhotoGIMP to a new version?

Just download the latest release and follow the installation steps again — it will overwrite the previous PhotoGIMP configuration.

Font Installation

Some of the options below just help you to download the font file(s) (i.e. .ttf or .otf) or archives of font files. These must be installed on your system, depending on your OS. Usually (double) clicking the font files individually does the trick. Ask your OS' community if installing a font file is a problem.

`Option 1: Release Archive Download`

Best option if you want an archive or complete font family of variations (Bold, Italic, etc.).

Fonts are available for download as packages in the latest release A nice overview is on the Nerd Font site (but misses the more compact xv archives).

If you want download the latest release of a given font inside a script you can use (replace "JetBrainsMono" with your font):

curl -OL https://github.com/ryanoasis/nerd-fonts/releases/latest/download/JetBrainsMono.tar.xz

`Option 2: Homebrew Fonts`

Best option if on macOS and want to use Homebrew.

All fonts are available via Homebrew Cask on macOS (OS X)

brew install font-hack-nerd-font

On Linux you have to add --cask after install.

`Option 3: Unofficial Chocolatey or Scoop Repositories`

Option for Windows and wanting to use Chocolatey or Scoop.

Chocolatey users can download fonts published to the Chocolatey Community Repository (CCR):

choco install nerd-fonts-hack

Scoop users can download fonts using the Scoop bucket for Nerd Fonts:

scoop bucket add nerd-fonts
scoop install Hack-NF

`Option 4: Arch Extra Repository`

Option for Arch Linux and wanting to use Extra packages.

Most fonts are available via Arch Extra packages. Some special packages are in AUR.

`Option 5: PowerShell Installer`

Best option for interactive setup guidance or automating installations through PowerShell scripts.

PSModule NerdFonts

This is a 3rd-party community tool. More information can be found on its GitHub repository here.

To install the module:

Import-Module -Name NerdFonts

To install one font:

Install-NerdFont -Name 'FiraCode' # Tab completion works on name

Powershell Web Installer

This is a 3rd-party community tool. More information can be found on its GitHub repository here.

Requires PowerShell 7+ to be installed on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
Windows PowerShell 5.1 is also supported.

To run the interactive installer, use the following command:

Best option if you want to automate installing or for use in scripts.

Requires (shallow) cloning the repo as of now 😦
Will not work to get newer fonts as they are not inside the repo anymore.

Installs all the patched Fonts (Warning: This is a lot of Fonts adding up to a large size)

./install.sh

or, in PowerShell (Windows only):

./install.ps1

Single font:

Installs a single Font of your choice

./install.sh <FontName>
./install.sh Hack

or, in PowerShell (Windows only):

./install.ps1 <FontName>

`Option 8: Font Fallback`

Most systems have a mechanism to search for an alternative font when the current font does not have a glyph that is needed. For example you edit a Latin text and insert a Chinese character, that glyph is taken not from your active font (it does not have it) but from some other font.

For this font fallback you can use one of the SymbolsOnly fonts.

For fontconfig based systems like Linux you can improve the behavior with the 10-nerd-font-symbols.conf configuration file, that needs to be manually installed.

Pro: One symbol font is sufficient for all text fonts
Con: Scaling and placement of the fallback symbols can be hit or miss

`Option 9: Clone the Repo`

Best option for full control, all or some of the fonts, or contributing to development.

Note: Will not work to get newer fonts as they are not inside the repo anymore.

A full clone of this repository is not required nor efficient (mostly due to Repository size) if you are simply only interested in a limited set of fonts.

If you do want to clone the entire repo be sure to shallow clone:

git clone --depth 1

Even if you develop you probably do not need the old versions of the font files. With this command you have all commits but not all the old data - it will be loaded only if you check out old binaries (or do a blame):

git clone --filter=blob:none git@github.com:ryanoasis/nerd-fonts

If you want to clone just a sub-directory, use git sparse-checkout.

git clone --filter=blob:none --sparse git@github.com:ryanoasis/nerd-fonts
cd nerd-fonts
git sparse-checkout add patched-fonts/JetBrainsMono

`Option 10: Patch Your Own Font`

The option for patching your own font or fully customizing the patched font.

Use the provided Python command line script to generate a patched font from your own font to get the extra new glyphs

you will still need to copy the generated font to the correct font directory on your system

Patching the font of your own choosing:

Use the script
- Download script and its helper files as archive and extract
- Just downloading the font-patcher script is not enough.
- Requires: Fontforge, Python 3, python-fontforge and argparse packages
  - Fontforge can be installed as package
  - or on OSX via brew install fontforge
  - or as AppImage
- Usage, recommended:

fontforge -script font-patcher PATH_TO_FONT
```
- Usage, direct (more convenient call, if it works for you):

./font-patcher PATH_TO_FONT
```
- Usage, with Fontforge AppImage
  
  Note: chmod u+x the AppImage after download. All supplied paths need to be absolute and an explicit output path is required! If everything is located in the same directory, you can use the $PWD shorthand.

Update docker image

Run interatively to get full control of font-patcher invocation and all debug output and error messages:

docker run -it -v /path/to/fonts:/in:Z --entrypoint=/bin/sh nerdfonts/patcher

And then in the container for example:

/ # cd /in
/in # fontforge --script ../nerd/font-patcher [OPTIONS] your_font.ttf

Note

The resulting font's family (aka font name) will be set to the original family after CamelCasing, removing whitespace and appending Nerd Font. For example, iosevka term would become IosevkaTerm Nerd Font.

Companion plugins

Minimal Theme Settings plugin allows you to customize color schemes, fonts, hotkeys, and access the main feature toggles. This plugin is highly recommended for all users of Minimal.
Hider plugin is recommended to hide Obsidian UI elements such as window frame, scrollbars, tooltips, etc. When using Hider to turn off the main toolbar (AKA app ribbon), it can be accessed by hovering over the bottom left edge of the window.
Style Settings plugin allows you to create a custom color scheme. This plugin is optional.

Settings

The following settings can be accessed using Minimal Theme Settings plugin. Many of these settings below can be toggled with hotkeys.

Interface colors and fonts

Background contrast — includes true black dark mode for OLED devices
Color scheme — includes Catppuccin, Dracula, Everforest, Gruvbox, macOS, Nord, Solarized, and more
Line width — set normal line width and maximum width within a pane

You can also use the Style Settings plugin for even deeper customization

Features

Text labels for primary navigation — adds text labels the top left navigation, note that a translation snippet is necessary for languages other than English more on localization
Focus mode — hides title bar and status bar
Colorful frame — use accent color for the top area of the app window
Colorful headings — use different colors for each heading
Hide workspace borders — removes dividing lines for a more minimal appearance
Trim filenames — file names are trimmed to a single line

Layout options

Controls images, tables and iframes. These settings can also be enabled on a per-file basis using helper classes.

Image grids — turns consecutive images into columns. To make a new row, add an extra line break between images.
Block widths — controls the width of elements by type.

Color schemes

Preset color schemes

Minimal offers color schemes that can be separately selected for light and dark mode using the Minimal Theme Settings plugin. Color schemes include Dracula, Everforest, Gruvbox, macOS, Nord, Notion, Solarized, and Things.

Custom color schemes

You can use the Style Settings plugin to customize your color scheme. To see your changes more easily, open Style Settings in a new pane by using the command palette (CMD + P by default). Using Style Settings you can customize Minimal's colors, font sizes, font styles, and many more details.

Image filters can be added to create the following effects. Use them by adding the filter name at the end of the image link, e.g. ![[image.jpeg#invert]]

To build directly into your Obsidian vault rename .env.example to .env and update OBSIDIAN_PATH to the local path of your Obsidian theme folder.

To run

This builds two files, the obsidian.css distribution file (for the community themes store) which is minified and also copied to your vault for live reload, and the Minimal.css file which is an unminified copy saved to the project root.

Minimal for Desktop and Mobile

Minimal for Obsidian apps is licensed under the MIT License which allows you to modify and redistribute the code, however you must preserve the copyright and license notice in your CSS file. This includes any code you may extract as standalone snippets.

Minimal is frequently updated to stay current with the latest version of Obsidian. This theme is provided as is, and is designed for my personal use of Obsidian on macOS. As such it is not thoroughly tested across all operating systems and use cases.

This theme modifies significant parts of the Obsidian interface, so it may break with future updates. It may also be incompatible with other bits of custom CSS you have.

Installation

Typora

Download Release and unzip, set the theme:
1. Open Typora theme folder: Preferences > Appearance > Open Theme Folder
2. Copy files to the theme folder: lapis-cv.css, lapis-cv-serif.css, lapis-cv directory
3. Restart Typora, select Lapis Cv / Lapis Cv Serif from the theme menu.
Open template file to edit.
File > Export > PDF to export the PDF file.

Before exporting, set the page size to A4 and margins to custom in Preferences > Export > PDF, with top and bottom margins of 13mm, and left and right margins of 15mm:

VSCode

Download Release and unzip, open the folder in VSCode.
Install the plugin Markdown PDF.
Open template file, click the preview icon in the top right to view the effect in real-time:

Right-click and select Markdown PDF - Export (pdf) to export the PDF file.

Switch themes:

Getting Started

For a super fast setup, go check devicon.dev.
You can either use the raw SVG icons, our Devicon font (which is also available via CDN), or by building Devicon yourself.

Use the `devicon` font (recommended)

You can install devicon as a dependency to your project either with npm or yarn:

If you don't want to use a package manager, you can also download and include devicon.min.css next to the font files to your project. See devicon.dev for details about how to add Devicon to your project via a CDN.

`develop` vs `master`

All official releases shall be in master. Any updates in between (icons, features, etc.) will be kept in develop.

develop contains:

Latest SVGs (non-optimized).
No icons for the latest SVGs. These will be built at every release.
Can be built manually. See Building Devicon.
Experimental changes.

master contains:

Latest official release, which contains all the SVGs and icons.
Official, tested changes.

Stale Pull Requests

After a pull request has been open for over 30 days with no activity or response from the author, it'll be automatically marked as stale. We might fork your changes and merge the changes ourselves. Since GitHub tracks contributions by commits, you will be credited.

Building Devicon

Follow these steps to build the website and icons either locally or using Gitpod.io.

Using Gitpod.io

By using Gitpod.io, you can easily build the icons and install the
required dependencies in one single click. No extra setup is required.

Note In case some of the commands are not properly ran, you can
follow the steps below and run the same commands on Gitpod.io

Local Installation

Install dependencies

Fork the repository and clone the forked repository.

Install all the necessary NPM dependencies

npm install

Note In case you don't have NPM installed, check this ultimate guide on installing Node.js and NPM. These tools are required in order to build Devicon properly.

Build the new icons

Once all the dependencies are installed, you can proceed to build the newest icons.
Usually, this is done on each release, but you can have a sneak peek before a release.

The process might take a while, depending on your operating system's speed and the amount of icons.

If there are any errors shown, please let us know by creating an issue or contacting us on our Discord community.

Build the CSS stylesheet

Run the following command to build the new CSS stylesheet.
This file is used to show all the new icons previously built.

npm run build-css

Setting up the web server

Run the following command to start the web server with Python.

npm run dev # Will run on port 8000

Or this command, which does exactly the same, but the port can be customized.

python -m http.server <port>

You're done now! 🎉 Your build of Devicons should be available at https://localhost:8000 (or the desired port).

I really like how the Doxygen HTML documentation is structured, but IMHO it looks a bit outdated.

This theme is an attempt to modernize the visuals of Doxygen without changing its overall layout too much.

To use the theme when generating your documentation, bring the required CSS and JS files from this repository into your project.

This can be done in several ways:

manually copying the files
adding the project as a Git submodule
downloading the project with CMake FetchContent
adding the project as an npm/xpm dependency
installing the theme system-wide

All theme files are located in the root of this repository and start with the prefix doxygen-awesome-. You may not need all of them. Follow the installation instructions to determine which files are required for your setup.

Git submodule

For projects that use Git, add the repository as a submodule and check out the desired release:

When the configure stage of CMake is run, the Doxyfile.in is rendered to Doxyfile and Doxygen can be run as usual.

There are two layout options. Choose one of them and configure Doxygen accordingly:

Base Theme

Comes with the typical Doxygen titlebar. Optionally the treeview in the sidebar can be enabled.

Automatic IP Address Reconnaissance is performed after the above information is received.

This tool is a Proof of Concept and is for Educational Purposes Only, Seeker shows what data a malicious website can gather about you and your devices and why you should not click on random links and allow critical permissions such as Location etc.

How is this Different from IP GeoLocation

Other tools and services offer IP Geolocation which is NOT accurate at all and does not give location of the target instead it is the approximate location of the ISP.
Seeker uses HTML API and gets Location Permission and then grabs Longitude and Latitude using GPS Hardware which is present in the device, so Seeker works best with Smartphones, if the GPS Hardware is not present, such as on a Laptop, Seeker fallbacks to IP Geolocation or it will look for Cached Coordinates.
Generally if a user accepts location permsission, Accuracy of the information recieved is accurate to approximately 30 meters
Accuracy depends on multiple factors which you may or may not control such as :
- Device - Won't work on laptops or phones which have broken GPS
- Browser - Some browsers block javascripts
- GPS Calibration - If GPS is not calibrated you may get inaccurate results and this is very common
